Hormone Replacement Therapy
Now that bio-identical hormone therapy has been presented on the Oprah Winfrey show, public interest in this therapy has increased. The therapy is part of a new speciality called Anti-aging Medicine and the focus is to support the body with customized hormones to allow the patient to maintain energy, muscle mass, brain function, sexual activity, and vigor.
As we get older the hormones in our bodies decline, leading to menopause for women and andropause for men. Bio-identical hormones are hormones that are the identical chemical structure of the hormones that our bodies make. These hormones are derived from a plant source (yams or soy) and are customized in our state of the art lab to be identical to your naturally produced hormones.
We have the ability to work with the health care provider to best meet the needs of the individual. Prescriptions for bio-identical hormones can be designed to get into the body via the skin or mucous membranes. Drops, creams, gels, troches and specially made capsules are just a few of the types of compounds available to the client.
